Caprese is actually an Italian starter consisting of tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and olive oil. As a calzone and in combination with the South African national fruit Peppadew® cherry peppers, the universally popular dish is given a new context. We are delighted!
FOR APPROX. 4-6 PEOPLE YOU NEED:
- 500g pizza dough (ready-made or homemade)
- 100g fresh basil leaves
- 4 Roma tomatoes, sliced
- 120g (buffalo) mozzarella
- 100g Peppadew ® cherry peppers in strips
HOW TO DO IT:
First, cut the pizza dough into 4 equal-sized pieces and form them into balls. Then roll them out a little and top them with tomatoes, mozzarella, basil and the delicious Peppadew ® cherry peppers in strips . Then simply fold the dough over, press the edges together and bake in the oven at 180°C for approx. 12-15 minutes.
Tip for meat fans : In addition to the filling of the calzone, Parma ham goes perfectly!
